Foster
Chemicals was originally founded in Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A. In
1981, the company established a branch office with its own
production plant in Monchengladbach, Germany.
In 1985, Foster Chemicals founded a fully independent European
branch, which took over the Miinchengladbach production plant while
retaining the original company name.
In 1993, a 6.000 m* new and modern facility in Jiichen was built
(near Dusseldorf, Germany) on company owned property of 12.000 m*.
The production equipment consists of 14 fully automated mixing units
with a total capacity of 70.000 liters. It is here that, with a
state-of-the-art computerized production facilities, a line of
specialized chemical products is manufactured and being distributed
throughout Germany and the neigh-boring countries.
The Foster Chemicals laboratories guarantee the highest level of
quality control in production as well as ongoing research and
development. Our R+D is fully equipped with highly sophisti-cated
instrumentation such as GC/MS, thermoanalyser, UV and NIR- pectro-meter,
tensiometer, viscosimeter, and many others. We have pilot plants for
distillation, degreasing (ultrasound, electrolysis, spraying and
soaking processes), paint stripping and an installation for powder
coating and liquid painting.
Test equipment for general standardized corrosion prevention and
paint flocculating experiments are available for R+D and quality
control purposes.
As a part of our continuing efforts to implement recycling
processes, a vacuum distillation for the purification of solvents
containing impurities was installed in the first quarter of 1996.
All water and solvent-based products are scientifically up-to-date
and satisfy all present and future environmental requirements.
Among our customers are companies in the automobile and supply
industries, the metal producing and processing industries, as well
as in the metal refining and plastics industries. For these sectors,
Foster Chemicals supplies a variety of products and develops
in-devitalized methods for surface treatment. We also supply a
variety of specialized cleaning products and disinfectants to the
food and beverage industry.
In 1989, Foster Chemicals began to take a strategic focus on coil
cleaning. Since then, several of innovative products and new ideas
have been allowing to gain a significant presence in this particular
market segment.
In 1994, Foster Chemicals opened a first production plant outside
Germany in a joint venture with a Portuguese company. The opening of
further sub-sidiaries is planned in the next few years.
